So, i woke up once last night. Around 6:30am. Then i woke up for the day around 10:30am. Both times i didn't recall any dreams i had, and i assumed the report this morning would be bare, just a comment that i recollected nada. However, i got up and set out to locate music by a band i was introduced to last night--Dead Skeletons--and while searching for them, i came across various genres of metal bands. Listening to a couple clips of these other bands reminded me of a dream i had! I don't remember when the dream happened...i think between falling back asleep around around 6:30am and 10:30am.
I was in a bit of a darkened, public building with people from high school. We were in a room like a cafeteria, or some kind of long, sparse hallway. Walls were painted whitish, with maybe some grey highlights. Specifically, there were two guys from high school who have an interest in metal music, and we were discussing various bands. We got onto the subject of Metallica, and at first, all or some of us were saying how great Metallica was. Then, we were listening to them, but not on a stereo, not through headphones...it was as though we were listening to their music in our heads. Not by thinking about it, but just "tapping into" their music, as if we could go online using our brains. While evaluating what we were listening to, we took out certain layers of the tracks to get a feel for the other parts. We realized that taking away Kirk Hammett's solos showed the music to be very simple, and badly played, rhythm guitar parts. Some or all of us were kind of surprised and listening more to the rhythm guitar, it began to sound worse, was out of tune and out of time. (In real life, i have no particular beef with Metallica. I generally like all kinds of music everywhere.) Lighting in the dream was a low, a bit dark.
